Nick Clarke

Like thousands of others I was sorry to read the BBC Obituary of Nick Clarke. We had that Nick Clarke in our living room, once … when he was presenting an outside broadcast discussion programme, that for some reason or other was recorded in Marston Church.

And a really nice bloke he was, too. I gather from something I read that he was pretty fussy about his accommodation, the food and drink he got. But he drank our (FairTrade) instant coffee without demur. (At least, I think he drank it. It’s just possible he may have found some other way of disposing of it…)

It was one of our very rare contacts with celebrity, and all the better that he was one of the real good guys.
